Cultural Sensitivity and Competence in the Service to the LGBTTQIA+ Population

In this instructional module, various conceptualizations will be described and value judgments of equity will be constructed to raise awareness about fair treatment in health services. Awareness will be raised about people's right to know, accept and live according to their gender identity and sexual orientation. The pressing need to develop physical, emotional, and legal health services according to the needs of the LGBTTQIA+ population will be described.

Objetivos

By completing the reading, you will be able to:

1. Develop competence on gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and the needs of LGBTTQIA+ people
2. 2. Develop sensitivity and empathy to provide holistic health services to LGBTTQIA+ people.
3. 3. Identify some of the existing laws, physical, emotional, and legal health services in Puerto Rico relevant to the LGBTTQIA+ population.
