INFECTION CONTROL MODULE
AIDS, HEPATITIS, H1N1 AND TUBERCULOSIS

As health professionals we are exposed to many infectious diseases. These can easily spread among patients, co-workers, and family members. To avoid getting infected, we must use the right measures to protect ourselves. If we do not take the appropriate measures, we can cause other people such as visitors, cleaning employees and others to become contaminated due to negligence. Through this module we will review the measures we must take to avoid contagion; and what we should do when exposure to different infectious diseases occurs, such as the HIV virus (AIDS), Hepatitis, Tuberculosis and H1N1.

Objetivos

  1. Define in their own words the concepts of Communicable Disease, Pathogens, Host, Reservoir and Carrier
  2. Mention at least three of the five routes of contagion.
  3. Recognize the three links in the Chain of Infection.
  4. Explain in your own words the three phases of the disease.
  5. Recognize the routes of transmission of contagious diseases in the workplace.
  6. Mention the different means of transmission in the work area
  7. Recognize the different components in a workplace exposure control plan.
  8. Indicate the steps to be followed at the time of exposure with infectious agents.
  9. Mention the most used Universal Precautions measures in contact with body fluids.
  10. Recognize infection control measures in patients with HIV, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, and H1N1
