CPR (Heart-Saver and First Aid)
For Social and Sports Leaders, Caregivers in Nursing and Children's Homes, Teachers, and the General Public
The American Heart Association's (AHA) CPR and AED First Aid Heartguard course is designed for individuals who have basic or no training in providing medical care to injured or people experiencing a medical emergency, but who need to know how to do so as part of their job responsibilities — such as athletic trainers, teachers, daycare staff, and security brigades — or who want to be trained in first aid and know how to act in emergencies. The Heartsavers courses are designed to prepare students to be able to provide first aid, give CPR and use an AED in a safe, appropriate and effective way in emergency situations.
Through practical and dynamic sessions, participants learn to recognize emergency signs, activate the local emergency system, apply cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers, use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and provide first aid in the event of bleeding, fractures, shock and other urgent events. The course seeks to empower people to act with confidence, knowing that timely intervention can make the difference between life and death.
The contents include: definition and fundamental principles of first aid, initial assessment of the scene and safety, PAS (Protect, Alert, Assist) protocol, recognition and management of common emergencies (heart attacks, strokes, asthma attacks), bleeding and shock control, management of respiratory emergencies, treatment of wounds, burns, fractures and dislocations, airway clearance maneuvers, and CPR protocol for adults, children and infants with AED use.
Upon passing the course, participants receive an AHA credential as a Heartsaver provider with international validity and validity of 2 years.
